A Cry amidst the Din

A Cry amidst the Din

The fact that you have given way too much of your time for all their needs yet even lending an ear for listening is what they could hardly give.

Dear students, have you ever known the feeling of speaking in front of more than fifty students? Why not put yourselves on the shoes of the speaker.  Isn’t it hard to utter a word when the crowd is noisy?  Isn’t it hard to start your talk when everybody’s busy doing their own things? Aren’t you dismayed to continue speaking when someone raises a nonsense point? Isn’t it too tiring to repeat all what you have spoken because of their repeating questions for they have not listened? Isn’t it hard to cater their suggestions, clarifications, questions, and comments when they are not raising their hands, but instead, mumble those on their seats, or even do so when you talk was already done? Won’t you wanted to shout at them? Won’t you wanted to give them hurtful words? Won’t you wanted to scream at the top of your voice that they are all dunce for they don’t know how to follow a simple instruction—to just listen?  Won’t you wanted to walk out of the room because of their deeds you can classify not?  Won’t you wanted to throw to them all things you have in your hands? Won’t you wanted to cry out loud because of their unfavorable behaviors?

Students, is it that really hard to listen?  Tell me, how hard is it to listen to the speaker in a seminar?  Tell me, how hard is it to listen to a preacher when he preaches? How hard is it to listen to a teacher when he/she teaches?  How hard is it to listen to a reporter when he/she reports? How hard is it to listen to a leader when he/she stands in front of you to speak? Then why is it hard for us to listen to music? To jokes? To nonsense things? Is it hard to notice how hard it is to speak in front of a crowd with no one who tries to listen? Are we that blind, deaf, and numb enough not to see, hear, and feel all these miserable things? Where are the values we have gained from our parents? Where are the values taught to us by our dear teachers? Where are all the values we have all had from our life experiences? Are they all gone? Have we not gained it, and enriched? Have we forgotten it already? Why are the words DISCIPLINE and RESPECT come out of our lips when we do not even know the real meaning of these words? Are we going to continue being an ignorant of this waving truth? Are we going to leave things behind and won’t do right things or won’t do things right? Are we going to continue our misbehavior and prefer to act like little children who only know how to play? Are we going to stay the same and will not change in order to grow? What for that we have minds? What for that we have feelings? What for that we have wisdom? Principles in life? What for that we are being educated? What for that we have senses? What for that we exist? What for that we live?

I may not have the right to judge you, but at least accept my impressions as my judgments. What I have seen belongs to my inferences enough to say what you are. What I have observed is enough to tell you who you are. You can’t question my part, for it’s you who gave me all these. If you do not want to be judged, act like an educated person. Show me that you are worthy to gain respect and be respected. If you do so, what I have seen and have observed might change. We grow continuously along many changes. And every day is worth changing for. Every day is a chance. Every day is an opportunity. Every day has options. Grab, and choose what is best, not only what is good for you but also what is good for others. We are would-be teachers. We are bound to teach minds, touch hearts, and transform lives.

To all who may have given their time reading this composition, I hope there is something in you I have changed. And if not, I pray that you will have the courage to identify the truth behind the situation. I also pray that I have made an achievement of smoothing up your minds and hearts of stone. Some may pay attention to I’m saying, others may ignore it. Some may live the words written, others may make fun of it. Words can strike like lightning and can cut like blade, so please accept judgments and comments constructively. I know how well you all are as a person who knows how to think, love, care, and understand.
